An LED TV (or more properly - an LED-backlight LCD TV) is an LCD TV that utilizes LED backlighting instead of the traditionally used cold cathode fluorescent lights. This allows for a thinner panel, a brighter display, enhanced contrast levels and less consumption of energy resources. Additionally, an LED TV emits less heat than a standard LCD TV.
